Job Symbols: Copy to Global ( Utility Functions )

You can use Job Symbols: Copy to Global to copy symbols that you have created in your current Job to a library of global symbols that is available for use in any Job.
Global symbols are saved in the data directory used by your current version of this program. Job symbols are stored in your current Job and can only be used in your current Job.
The number or names of symbols currently in your current Job does not change as a result of your using this utility. If you later Home > press "jobname" > change to a different Job and want to copy symbols for use in that Job, you need to use the utility called Global Symbols: Copy to Job .

Step-by-step instructions :

1 . Home > Utilities > Utility Functions > Copy Job to Global > Job Symbols: Copy to Global . If prompted to do so, enter the " Utility Password " that has been set up for your network.

2 . A selection dialog opens. On it is a list of the symbols in your current Job .

Note: If there are no symbols in your current Job, you will be notified of such, and this operation will end without the selection dialog being opened.

Alternative 1 : Select the names of the symbols that you want to be copied to the global symbols repository, then press the " OK " button at the bottom of this selection dialog. Go to step 3.

Alternative 2 : Press the " Cancel " button to end the Job Symbols: Copy to Global operation. Do not continue.

3 . The symbols selected in step 2 continue to exist in your Job as symbols and copies of these same symbols are now global symbols . Users who want to use the symbols you just copied in their own Jobs can do so by using a related utility called Global Symbols: Copy to Job .

Tip: Use the Project Items List utility to confirm that this change has indeed taken place.
